The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina State, Ali Tanimu, says the Corps will soon ensure that rickety vehicles do not ply the roads in the state.

Mr Tanimu stated this in an interview in Katsina on Saturday.

“We will not relent to ensure that all dilapidated vehicles do not ply the roads in and around the state,” he said.

He blamed most road crashes in the state on over-speeding, dangerous overtaking and ramshackle vehicles plying the roads.

He said the Corps was collaborating with the relevant agencies such as the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in ensuring the smoothness of the roads across the state in order to reduce accidents.

“Arrangements are also in top gear to embark on a public enlightenment toward the upcoming Easter festivities with a view to preventing crashes during movements for the celebrations,” the sector commander said.
