Katsina police boss presents N54.5 million to heirs of 27 deceased officers

The money was from the IGP’s Family Welfare Insurance Scheme initiated to provide succour for families of deceased police officers who died in active service.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina, Shehu Umar-Nadada, on Friday, presented N54.5 million cheques to the families of 27 policemen who died in active service.

Mr Umar-Nadada said that the money was from the IGP’s Family Welfare Insurance Scheme initiated to provide succour for families of deceased police officers who died in active service.

He commended the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, for improving the welfare of officers of the Nigeria Police Force through such schemes.

The commissioner of police urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.

Bilkisu Ma’aruf, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for the gesture, and assured that they would utilise the money to uplift their families in line with the objective of the scheme.
