The Wife of Kebbi Governor, Nafisa Idris, on Thursday distributed bags of rice and cash to 1,000 women and youths in Bayan Kara and Gotar Aliero, Birnin Kebbi Local Government of the state.

Speaking at the event in Birnin Kebbi, the governor’s wife said that the initiative was aimed at appreciating the support given to the state government by the people.

She said that her husband prioritised the well-being of citizens.

She urged the beneficiaries to register in the ongoing continuous voter registration to enable them vote in the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Ward Chairman of Nassarawa 1, Nasiru Aliyu, commended the governor’s wife for the gesture, saying it would greatly assist the people.

Mr Aliyu called on the beneficiaries to utilise the food and cash judiciously and continue supporting the state government.

In his remarks, the state’s Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Musa Augie, also commended the governor’s wife for the empowerment.

Mr Musa urged the residents to participate actively in the CVR, stressing that voter cards remained the only tool to elect leaders of their choice.

One of the beneficiaries, Aisha Musa, thanked the governor’s wife, saying the gesture came at the right time.

She said, “The bag of rice and cash will help me feed my family and support my petty business. We thank the governor’s wife for remembering us.’’

Another beneficiary, Umar Abdullahi, described the intervention as a relief, saying the N20,000 cash would enable him to buy farm inputs ahead of the dry season farming.

He said, “It shows that the government cares about us.’’
