Kenya free visa will aid free trade in Africa, says envoy

The Acting Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Samuel Mogere, on Wednesday said that his country’s free visa will aid free trade with other countries in Africa.
Mogere said this when he addressed journalists on the sidelines of “Magical Kenya Roadshow.’’
According to him, anyone can apply online and get authorisation for a free visa to Kenya.
`We work toward implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTCA) to help usher in the kind of deep reforms necessary to enhance long-term growth in Kenya and Africa at large. Our legal system is extremely efficient. The belief of Kenya presidential agenda is one Africa, one people. Pan Africa is the top agenda of our president. This has actually opened lots of free entries to Kenya,’’ he said.
He added that the only way to build capacity was to allow free movement of people and goods to each and every country.
“So, we must be one people, one continent. We must bring ourselves together. If we want to build our country, we must build ourselves. We no longer want to wait for western world to build our countries. Our countries must be built by our people. Africans must fix the African nations. We must develop the African nations. That is why we have AFCTCA which is now open in space for all countries to be integrated,’’ he said.
On tourism, Mr Mogere affirmed that every African country had valuable natural resources to harness for its prosperity.
“How to harness the potential of these resources is to come together and have discussion and seek ways to promote mutual benefits. In Kenya, we promote our tourism, all the time we engage in discussion. We mention our tourism and people see the benefits of it. It is the largest source of our Gross Domestic Products in Kenya. We cannot leave it. We have to work on it and Nigeria is rich in natural resources as well. All these endowments are to be harnessed by the people of Nigeria, ` ` he said.
According to him, the Kenya Republic had started engaging in discussion with the government of Kano State to share tourism ideas together.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director, Destination Connect Company, Kenya, Consaga Khisa, said the whole idea of the road show was to share experiences and build connections.
“It is not just about business; it’s about friendship, skills development, networking and more. The road show being presented offers us a tremendous opportunity to share insights, collaborate and promote tourism between our two countries,’’ he said.
Contributing, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Utalli College, Anthony Mbehelo, said cross-continental tourism initiative signified a positive stride in bolstering regional partnership and promoting economic growth across the African continent.
