Keyamo holds emergency meeting with aviation top officials over striking NiMet workers

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is holding an emergency meeting in Abuja with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency workers over the ongoing strike.
The minister’s spokesperson, Gbenga Saka, announced the start of the meeting on his official X page.
Mr Saka said, “The meeting is aimed at addressing concerns surrounding the ongoing strike action by aviation workers and working towards an immediate resolution to restore normalcy across the sector.”
The NiMET workers embarked on an indefinite strike on Wednesday, over poor working conditions among other demands.
The strike, which is in its second day, disrupted flight activities, leaving passengers stranded.
The strike also prompted Air Peace to suspend its flights operations till further notice to ensure the safety of its passengers.
Mr Saka noted, “The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development @fmaviationng, @fkeyamo, is currently in a high-level meeting with the permanent secretary and heads of aviation agencies, alongside leaders of key aviation unions.”
“In attendance are representatives from the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), led by Comrade Ochema Abba (General Secretary) and Comrade Oluchi (Deputy President), as well as the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), represented by Comrade Alale Adebayo (President General) and Comrade Ambore Samson (Chairman).”
