Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Thursday, launched his Iru Ekun Security Network in Kwara State, vowing that the security outfit will clear the state’s forests of bandits.

Speaking during the event in Ilorin, the activist noted that its operatives would begin security operations in areas most affected by insecurity.

“We’ll visit places where there are Igbomina people, including Babanla and Eruku. Nobody can scare us away from our fatherland. Never. Those bandits and terrorists in the bush don’t have fear of God. We have allowed them to scare us. Not anymore,” he stated.

Mr Adeyemo further noted that the security outfit was meant to strengthen the ongoing efforts by the police and other security agencies to restore peace across the state.

He added, “Our mission in Kwara is to complement the efforts of the government and security agencies. While local communities can contribute to protecting themselves, that alone is not enough.”

“We must work hand in hand with the police, the military and other security agencies. If we unite, we can drastically reduce kidnapping, banditry and every other form of terrorism in our society.”

The activist urged the youth to work together to ensure marauding terrorists were defeated in the state.

“As youth, we should make these elderly people be in peace. The bandits terrorising us are not special. We can defeat these terrorists. If we cooperate and go into the bush, they will never stay there,” he advised.

The activist’s visit to the North-Central state came amid escalating killings and abductions in several communities, especially in Edu, Patigi, Ifelodun, Kaiama and others.

The launch of the local security outfit came after President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of a Nigerian Army battalion in the state to strengthen security and curb killings, kidnappings and other violent crimes.
