The police command in Kogi, on Thursday, assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of the safety and wellbeing of their members serving in the state.

Miller Dantawaye, commissioner of police in Kogi, gave the assurance in his office, during a courtesy visit by the NYSC state coordinator, Femi Osungbohun.

“I wish to reassure the corps of this command’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all their members serving in Kogi State.

“The security of corp members is the command’s priority, and we will continue to work closely with the NYSC to ensure they serve in a safe and conducive environment.

“This is in recognition of the crucial role corps members play in community development and the transformation of the state, and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Osungbohun said that the visit was aimed at strengthening the security collaboration and to ensure the safety of corps members in Kogi.

The coordinator commended the Nigeria Police Force for its unwavering support in safeguarding corp members, particularly during their deployment to orientation camps.

He highlighted the invaluable role of the police in protecting corps members, and appealed for increased security presence at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba.

Mr Osungbohun called on the police command to strengthen patrols around the camp, given the security concerns around the axis.

“The safety of corpers remains our collective concern. We deeply appreciate the sacrifices of the Police Force in securing them.

“All the same, we hereby seek even more collaboration to prevent any unfortunate incidents,” the coordinator said.
