The Chief Imam, Kwara State University, Prof. Hamzat AbdulRaheem, on Saturday in Ilorin urged parents to inculcate moral values in their children to make them useful in society.

The chief imam spoke at the Step-Down of the Annual Zonal Youth Camp of Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria.

He spoke on the topic titled: “Quran as compass.”

Mr AbdulRaheem, who was the immediate-past Dean, KWASU’s School of Postgraduate, observed that the programme was crucial as it trained girls in values and being conscious of God.

He said the girls were society’s future mothers and they needed to be enlightened and well-informed on what was expected of them as good citizens of the nation.

“We expect that women in our society should brace up. They should put the fear of God in the way they think, behave and act. The society expects more from them and they should not disappoint their communities,” the chief imam of the Malete-based institution said.

Also speaking, a cleric and Guest Lecturer at the occasion, Dr. Mahmud Danjuma, enjoined youths to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran, as taught by Prophet Muhammad.

Mr Danjuma advised them to apply what they learnt in their personal lives and also contribute positively to their communities and society at large.

He emphasised on the role of the Quran in shaping moral values, decision-making and leadership.

The cleric likened the Quran to a compass, which provides direction and clarity in a world filled with distractions and uncertainties.

Speaking earlier, the Naibat Amerah of FOMWAN, Bilkis Oladimeji, urged youths to always have mentors to look upon them in achieving their future goals.

Ms Oladimeji explained that FOMWAN aimed at inspiring and equipping young girls to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.
