Lab scientists appoint Eronini as new BoT chairman

The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria ended its 60th annual general meeting in Owerri.
The AGM appointed Grace Eronini from Imo Specialist Hospital as its new board of trustees’s chair.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the association’s president, Casmir Ifeanyi, and made available to journalists on Sunday.
According to the statement, Eronini replaces the former BoT chairman, Adunni Udu, who was ousted at the four-day AGM.
Mr Ifeanyi stated that Udu was removed at the AGM, which ended on Saturday, following a motion moved by Fewedu Ibrahim and seconded by Brendan Mamah.
He added that the AGM, pursuant to Article 6d of the AMLSN Constitution 2018 (As Amended), passed a resolution that suspended Uche Odionyema as a member of the association for allegedly committing different constitutional breaches.
He further stated that the AGM also passed a resolution suspending the use and operation of an “illegally” opened FCMB account, 200464370, allegedly opened by Mr Odionyema, who was said to be parading himself as the association’s president.
The AGM, he said, held that the FCMB account “is fictitious and apparently opened for fraudulent activities.”
The AGM further held that it was opened in violation of the provisions of Schedule 3b of AMLSN Administrative and Operational Guideline 2018 and AMLSN Constitution 2018 (As Amended).
The statement added that the AGM also issued a disclaimer on the conference allegedly planned by Mr Odionyenma, reportedly restrained by the Federal High Court, Kano Division, from parading himself as the president of AMLSN.
Therefore, Mr Ifeanyi advised the AMLSN members and the public, including the Abia government, not to have anything to do with Mr Odionyenma on behalf of AMLSN or the said conference.
