Lagos: Epe LG chair seeks support to address security challenges

Surah Animashaun, chairperson of Epe Local Government Area in Lagos has called on stakeholders to support the council’s efforts in addressing security challenges in the area.

In an interview on Sunday, Ms Animashaun said the support of everyone was needed to make Epe adequately secure and create the right environment for the development of the area.

“There is a need to prioritise our security, and we must come together to work in harmony so that our people can live in peace”, she said.

The council boss urged security agencies, traditional rulers and youths to work more closely with the council to tackle security challenges.

She restated the council’s commitment to promoting sustainable peace and unity in the community and its prosperity.

Ms Animashaun said plans were underway to reform the area’s community policing outfit” IBILE” to make it more effective and further strengthen security in Epe.

She added that the council was also mulling the creation of a security trust fund to properly fund and equip the community security policing outfit to live up to expectations.

The council urged the people of Epe and other well-meaning people outside of the area to support the fund when created.

She commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his interventions in ensuring the state remained peaceful and secure.

Ms Animashaun said the many interventions of the state government had made Lagos a better place for everyone to live and thrive.
