Lagos govt to probe use of petrol as souvenir at installation ceremony

The Lagos State government on Saturday said it has ordered an investigation into the use of petrol as souvenirs at an installation ceremony.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said on Saturday that parties responsible for it would be made to account for it.
“The Lagos State Government, through the Safety Commission is investigating the matter,” Mr Omotoso said.
Earlier, a viral video showed kegs of petrol being handed out as souvenirs at the installation ceremony of Pearl Chidima Ogbulu as Erelu Okin of Orile Kemta.
The event was held on Friday at an events centre in Lagos.
Mr Omotoso, however, noted that there was no doubt the action was dangerous and could lead to loss of lives and property.
He also explained that it was against all safety measures in such places.
“The safety of lives and property of Lagosians and visitors remain a top priority to the government.
“We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and property be avoided,’’ the commissioner stated.
