The Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has officially inaugurated a comprehensive mass vaccination campaign against measles and rubella in the community.

The LCDA Chairman, Lukman Agbaje, in his remarks at the event on Thursday, said his administration remained committed to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of children in the community.

Mr Agbaje said the critical purpose of the immunisation was to prevent the outbreak and spread of life-threatening diseases.

The council chairman urged parents, guardians, school administrators, and community stakeholders to actively support the initiative by ensuring that eligible children were vaccinated.

“The health of our children remains a top priority of this administration.

“I call on all parents, schools, and community leaders to cooperate with health officials as we work collectively to build a safer and healthier Ayobo-Ipaja community,” he said.

According to him, the vaccination campaign will be conducted through house-to-house visits and designated vaccination points across all wards within the LCDA.

He added that the exercise was designed to provide easy access for residents.

The chairman also assured the public that the exercise would be carried out by certified and well-trained health officers, adding that the vaccination is safe, effective, and completely free of charge.

Mr Agbaje, however, cautioned residents against misinformation and unfounded rumours capable of discouraging participation.

The chairman said that vaccines remained one of the most reliable public health interventions globally.

In his remarks, a community leader, Joseph Oloyede, expressed support for the initiative and pledged their cooperation toward its successful implementation.

Mr Oloyede said that the community development association would be mobilised to ensure residents participated actively in the exercise.
