The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Lagos, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has dethroned six chiefs for attending a campaign by Peter Obi-led Labour Party.

In a statement on Monday, the monarch accused the six chiefs of impersonating him by attending LP campaign without his consent.

“The Oba Ojora has officially dethroned six of his Baales and the Balogun for impersonating him at the recently held Labour Party flag-off event in Apapa. This act is considered unacceptable for leaders within his domain. The decisive action of dethroning the six chiefs underscores his commitment to maintaining order and coherence within his leadership structure.”

Lauding the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led All Progressives Congress Party government for developing Ojora Kingdom, the statement noted that “Kabiyesi also took the opportunity to commend the present government’s ongoing development initiatives in Ojoraland, expressing his commitment to continue supporting the administration as it fosters growth and progress for the kingdom.”

The six chiefs dethroned include, Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), and Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira), Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko), and Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere).

The development followed the gearing up of political parties for the 2027 general elections.

In the 2023 presidential election, the LP presidential candidate, Mr Obi, defeated Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, in his domain. However, Mr Tinubu won the overall election, emerging president of the most populous African country.
