LASTMA hands over suspected ritualist caught with used diapers, cash to police
A passenger caught with more than 100 used children diapers and cash has been handed over to the Lagos police command for investigation.
According to a statement by LASTMA spokesman Adebayo Taofiq, officials of the traffic management agency were rescuing persons involved in a crash at Mosalasi round-about inward Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, when the suspected ritualist was found with the questionable items.
“One of the passengers inside the commercial tricycle involved in the accident was caught with more than 100 pieces of used small children ‘Diapers Pampers’ with huge sum of money of different denominations was immediately handed over to Police men at the scene of the accident,” the statement said
The spokesperson said three vehicles involved in the crash, Mazda commercial bus (FKJ 88 XH), Tricycle (Keke Marwa KJA 369 QM) and a white Camry car (KJA 351 HG).
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Camry car lost control due to speeding and collided with the Mazda commercial bus, LASTMA said.
The spokesperson said one passenger died while officials were rushing the victims to the hospital for treatment.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, said the crash was a ‘man-made’ accident which could have been prevented if over-speeding was avoided.
He maintained that the government embarked on regular public education on the danger inherent in over-speeding by vehicle owners across the state.
Mr Oreagba warned every motoring public to always ensure that their vehicles are in good condition, particularly the break before driving on Lagos roads.
