The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, has commiserated with the government and people of Adamawa State over the recent flood that claimed 29 lives, destroyed houses, and submerged farmlands.

Mr Maiha, an indigene of the state, delivered a condolence letter on behalf of the management and staff of his ministry on Wednesday in Yola.

He commended the state government’s proactive measures in tackling the disaster.

He urged the state government to develop lasting solutions to the perennial flooding affecting the state annually

The minister said that his ministry would continue to stand in solidarity with Adamawa in its moment of grief.

Mr Maiha, while presenting the relief materials to victims, described the gesture as an expression of unity and compassion.

He said, “We pray that Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, reposes the souls of the departed, heals the injured, and restores the property and livelihoods of those affected.’’

Responding, Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa Farauta, thanked the minister and his entourage for identifying with the state, describing the state as a family.

Mr Farauta commended the resilience of the people despite the devastation, assuring that the government would continue to provide humanitarian support to alleviate their suffering.

She said that the timely interventions from stakeholders helped to mitigate the impact of the disaster and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening disaster response in the state.
