Lokoja varsity matriculates 4,925 students

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL), on Thursday, matriculated 4,925 students for its 2023/2024 session with strong warning against vices and other acts that could undermine its integrity.
The FUL Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, gave the warning during the ceremony at the varsity’s campus at Andankola, Lokoja.
Inducting the students for the over 57 programmes in the seven faculties of the university, the vice chancellor charged them to uphold the values and standards of the university.
“Any violation of your oath will be met with appropriate sanctions, including dismissal.
“The mission of the university is to provide quality education, foster critical thinking, and produce well-rounded graduates who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to society.
“Our vision is to be the best among the universities in Nigeria and one of the top 10 universities in Africa.
“We aspire to become a world-class university recognised for excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.”
According to him, those guiding principles serve as the compass, “driving us toward academic innovation, social responsibility, and transformative impact.
“You are lucky bright minds joining our university family to bring unique talents, experiences, and aspirations to bear on their scholarships,” he said.
He also charged them to always uphold the values and standards of the university, which he said had zero tolerance for social vices such as cultism, examination misconducts and indecent dressing.
The vice chancellor urged the students to prioritise their academic pursuits and resist temptations of engaging in destructive activities.
