LSMTL, LASUSTECH sign MoU on building safety, academic excellence

The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Lagos State University of Science and Technology to enhance building safety and improve academic training.
The MoU, which was signed on Tuesday at LASUSTECH, Ikorodu, focused on student industrial training, joint research projects, curriculum development, and professional capacity building.
LSMTL general manager Olayinka Abdul disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. The general manager said that the collaboration would help to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the construction sector.
“This MoU is not just a document; it is a commitment to safeguarding the future of Lagos State’s built environment,” she said.
She stated that the partnership would provide students with direct access to LSMTL’s facilities for hands-on training and internships, while final-year students would be able to utilize real project data for their research.
Ms Abdul added that the collaboration would enable joint research into new concrete mixes, utilizing local materials, soil mechanics in Lagos, and enhanced testing methods. She hoped that sharing data and expertise would raise industry standards and produce highly skilled graduates.
