Makinde gifts physically challenged man new house five months after public appeal

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has gifted a house and a wheelchair to a resident living with disability, Isiah Chesire.
The governor’s gesture came months after Mr Chesire appealed to the governor for assistance during the state’s 50th anniversary programme in February.
In a video on Monday, officials of the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities (OYPWD) presented the house and facility to the beneficiary on behalf of the governor.
The OYPWD Director-General, Ayodele Adekanmbi, who made the presentation to the beneficiary, described the gesture as Mr Makinde administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of persons with disabilities.
“Today is not simply the presentation of a house and a wheelchair; it is the fulfilment of a promise and proof that compassionate governance is demonstrated through actions that restore dignity and hope,” Mr Adekanmbi stated.
He advised the beneficiary against selling the property, adding that the government would continue to implement programmes geared towards improving the welfare of persons with disabilities.
Mr Chesire appreciated the governor for the gesture, describing the donation as life-changing.
“I am so happy. In the history of life, I never imagined I would become a landlord or own a house of this magnitude. This is beyond my comprehension. God will deal with whoever plans to destroy this government,” the beneficiary said.
