Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday presented a proposed N891.99 billion appropriation bill for 2026 to the state’s House of Assembly.

The proposal, previously N684 billion as approved in 2025, was presented on the floor of the assembly, with dignitaries, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Rashidi Ladoja, present.

Addressing the assembly, the governor noted that N389.34 billion out of the proposed figure is intended for recurrent expenditure, while N502.65 billion has been earmarked for capital expenditure.

Mr Makinde said, “The infrastructure sector takes the lead with N210.02 billion; the education sector, N155.21 billion; the health sector, N70.81 billion; and the agricultural sector, N19.99 billion, while other multisectoral allocations amount to N435.9 billion.”

Commenting on the insecurity trend across the country, the governor urged the state residents not to entertain fear, as his government is well prepared to combat invaders and threats.

Restating his administration’s commitment, the governor mentioned the recent procurement of two new aircraft for the security surveillance of the 33 local government areas as an important achievement aimed at enhancing the state’s security architecture.

He said, “The state has procured two brand-new aircraft to carry out security operations. There is no need for the people to entertain any fear. The state has a robust security architecture that is enough for the current and evolving security threats in the country.”
