Man, 21, arraigned for allegedly stealing solar batteries

A 21-year-old man, Ali Yusuf, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing solar batteries worth N1.3 million.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate, L.K.J Layeni, on a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence between September 2024 and January 10, at Alaba International Market in Ojo.
Mr Uche alleged that the defendant and others now at large, stole five pieces of solar batteries at the market, belonging to a company called Waga Investment.
The company was represented in court by one Stella Ogochukwu.
The prosecutor said the solar batteries were valued at N1.3 million.
According to him, the offence contravened section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr Layeni, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until February 12 for mention.
