Man, 24, bags 12-month jail for stealing N350,000 motorcycle

An Area Court in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday sentenced 24-year-old Abba Adam to 12 months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle worth N350,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the suspect after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.
The judge also gave him the option of a N30,000 fine.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Inspector Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station on November 22 by Shuibu Nuhu.
He said the accused trespassed into his compound and stole his motorcycle, valued at N350,000, from where it was parked.
The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the accused person confessed to having committed the offence, and the motorcycle was found in his possession.
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of northern Nigeria.
