Man, 44, arraigned over alleged land grabbing

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 44-year-old man, Bolarinwa Idris, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged land grabbing.
Idris, of no known address, was charged with land grabbing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between 2019 and 2024 at Soka area of Ibadan.
Ms Adedosu said that the defendant unlawfully engaged in land grabbing by entering into the land of the Oshoaro Popoola family, represented by Wasiu Popoola.
She said that the defendant entered the land with the intent to grab it, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 4 of the Oyo State Real Properties Protection Law, 2016.
The Magistrate, M. Olagbenro, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N700,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
Mr Olagbenro, thereafter, adjourned the case until November 28 for hearing.
