Man arraigned over alleged theft of N560,000

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Delta, 2006.

The police in Asaba, Delta State on Thursday arraigned a 39-year-old man, Utomi Luke, in an Asaba Magistrates’ Court for alleged N560,000 theft.

Utomi, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Selebo Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 21, at No.9 Okpanam Road, Asaba.

Mr Isaac said that the defendant stole the N560, 000 belonging to a Point-of-Sale operator, Michael Odume.

He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Delta, 2006.

The Magistrate, Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mrs Anumodu ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide means of identification.

She adjourned the case until April 29, for mention.
