Man docked over N13.5 million scam

A 41-year-old man, Olajide Alabede, who allegedly obtained N13.5 million under the pretext of selling two cars and a truck, was, on Wednesday, brought before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant appeared on a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretences and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutor James Okosun aaid that the defendant committed the offences sometime in March, at No. 1, Abiodun Yunusa Close, Alagbado.
He said that the defendant had approached the complainant, Michael Komolafe, and told him he would help sell off his Scania truck and two Corolla cars, all valued at N13.5 million.
He said that after selling vehicles, the defendant converted the money into his personal use and refused to remit the funds to the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, F.F. George, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties each in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till November 18 for mention.
