Man found with 32 SIM cards charged with fraud

A 21-year-old unemployed man, Isaac Tony, was on Friday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly being in possession of 32 Subscriber Identity/Identification Module (SIM) cards of different network providers.
Mr Tony, who resides in Oshodi, Lagos is charged with fraud.
Prosecution counsel Innocent Odugbo told the court that Mr Tony committed the offence on December 15 at Apakun Lanre area, Oshodi, Lagos.
Mr Odugbo said that the police apprehended the defendant when they suspected his moves were suspicious.
The prosecutor said that while he was being searched, 32 SIM cards were being found on him.
Mr Odugbo said that when the police questioned him, he couldn’t give a satisfactory account on how he came about those SIM cards.
The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 328 and 329 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate M.F. Onamusi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in likesum.
Ms Onamusi adjourned the case until March 13 for mention.
