Man nabbed while allegedly sitting FCTA promotion exam for his father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been caught while allegedly sitting a promotion examination for his father, Musa Mohammed, who works in Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, Abuja.
Mr Monsuru was caught on Wednesday, the third day of the promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), venue of the examination.
The suspect was reportedly arrested by security deployed on the orders of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to monitor the examination.
A statement by the minister’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, said the man claimed that his father was sick but was on university premises where the examination took place.
The suspect confessed that his father asked him to sit the exam on his behalf.
Asked about his father’s age, Mr Monsuru said he was between 67 and 68 years old. However, his father said he would turn 60 in February 2027.
When questioned further, the father said he completed secondary school in 1982 and primary school in 1977.
The father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the State Security Service (SSS).
