Marwa warns NDLEA cadets against being friends with drug traffickers

Buba Marwa, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned new cadets of the agency against having “communion” with drug barons.
He gave the warning at the passing out parade on Friday in Jos, adding that they resist all forms of temptation that could make them compromise the rules of the agency.
“In whatever circumstance you may find yourselves in the course of your careers, think first about the greater good and always remember that traffickers, barons and cartels are opposing forces with whom you must not have any communion whatsoever,” Mr Marwa said.
The NDLEA boss told the cadets that the agency was “working purposely to put in place a welfare package that will shield you from circumstances or conditions that may predispose you to compromise your duties and responsibilities.”
He warned the cadets not to “disappoint the agency, and the society at large, and more importantly, do not disappoint yourselves,” urging them to “make your presence count with impactful contributions to the achievement of the agency’s objectives.”
The 1,978 new cadets are to be deployed to the 774 local government areas of the country in order to curb drug abuse in the rural communities.
