Military airstrikes kill 17 bandits in Katsina forest: Official

The Defence Headquarters on Friday said a military fighter jet had killed at least 17 armed bandits in their hideouts in Katsina State.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday by air component of “Operation Hadarin Daji in Dunya forest.
Defence spokesperson John Enenche told journalists in Abuja that the terrorists camp housed scores of rustled cows. Mr. Enenche said the air component of ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’ neutralised no fewer than 17 armed bandits and destroyed their camp in the Dunya Forest, Katsina.
This was achieved through air strikes executed on November 18, 2020 on the heels of credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports and confirmatory surveillance missions indicating that dozens of Ansaru terrorist group-linked armed bandits had established a camp at the location, which also housed scores of rustled cattle. Mr. Enenche also noted that the military airstrike destroyed the bandits storage facility while leaving many injured.Â
The Nigerian military started the operation in 2016 after killing and kidnapping activities of armed bandits devastated the country’ northwestern flank.Â
