Former Nigerian military head of state Ibrahim Babangida has commiserated with the people of Mokwa and the entire Niger over the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.

This is contained in a statement by Bologi Ibrahim, the chief press secretary to Governor Muhammed Bago.

The former military ruler made the commiseration when he received a state government delegation led by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba on a Sallah homage at his residence in Minna.

Mr Babangida described the Mokwa incident as unfortunate, adding that Allah ordained it. He enjoined the residents of the state to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased.

”What happened in Mokwa was unfortunate, and it was ordained by Allah. I enjoin residents of the state to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased,” said Mr Babangida.

He commended the state governor for his developmental strides and called for sustenance.

Meanwhile, Mr Garba, who led the delegation, said the visit was to seek Mr Babangida’s blessings and fatherly advice.

He appreciated the former head of state for his concern and fatherly role at all times.

Mr Garba said the people of Niger and Nigeria in general were appreciative of his diligent service to the country.
