Morocco 2025: NFF president praises Super Eagles’ AFCON  impressive start

Nigeria previously won the title in 1980, 1994 and 2013, and are seeking a fourth crown in Morocco.

Ibrahim Gusau, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has praised the Super Eagles’ impressive start at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Super Eagles defeated Tunisia 3-2 on Saturday to reach the Round of 16, after an earlier 2-1 victory over Tanzania.

Mr Gusau congratulated Nigerians on the team’s performances, urging sustained national support as the Eagles chase a historic fourth continental title.

He commended the players, coaches and officials for discipline, unity and determination, warning them not to relax until the trophy is secured.

The NFF president said the wins reflected renewed purpose and a strong winning mentality within the squad.

“The Super Eagles are making Nigerians proud and deserve the full backing of the nation,” Mr Gusau said.

He stressed that support from fans at home and in the diaspora remains vital as the competition enters decisive stages.

Mr Gusau reaffirmed tye federal government backing and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to lift the AFCON trophy again.

Nigeria previously won the title in 1980, 1994 and 2013, and are seeking a fourth crown in Morocco.

The Super Eagles will take on Uganda in their last group game on Tuesday by 4 p.m. in Fes, while Tunisia will return to Rabat to face Tanzania at the same time.
