Motorcycle Ban: Police arrest two suspects over death of police inspector in Lagos

The Lagos police command has arrested two suspects in connection with the death of a police inspector at Cele bus-stop, Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos.
Peoples Gazette learnt that some operators stormed Apapa-Oshodi expressway with machetes, planks and other weapons to cause disruption on the highway.
Three guns belonging to the police were allegedly hijacked by the mob.
Police spokesman in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, said on Wednesday that the police officers under Isolo division were attacked by motorcycle riders when they went on a patrol to enforce an existing motorcycle ban in the state.
Mr Hundeyin said an officer was lynched to death while the divisional police officer was injured by the motorcycle operators.
He added that two suspects have been arrested and 41 motorcycles were seized by the state command.
“Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, as riders and passengers alike arrested on prohibited routes will face the law. Above all, any form of attack on Police Officers will no longer be tolerated!” Mr Hundeyin said.
