Motorcycle thief, bribery suspect nabbed in Katsina, police say

The police command in Katsina has arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and another individual for attempting to bribe investigators to obstruct justice.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, announced this in a statement. According to him, the suspect, popularly known as ‘Dukiya’, was apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Kauraye unit.
Mr Sadiq-Aliyu added that Dukiya was arrested following credible intelligence linking him to the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a local, Isma’il Ibrahim.
He stated that police investigations revealed that Salisu allegedly conspired with an accomplice, Abba, who is currently on the run.
He said the officers recovered the stolen motorcycle, along with a master key believed to have been used to carry out the theft.
According to Mr Sadiq-Aliyu, efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplice and bring him to justice.
He added that a 45-year-old was also arrested for attempting to bribe investigators with ₦243,000 to secure the suspect’s release.
The police spokesperson explained that officers firmly rejected the offer and documented the cash as evidence.
He said the bribery suspect is in custody and is expected to face prosecution for offering a bribe to public officers, an offence punishable under Section 118 of the Penal Code Law.
