Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said his administration remains committed to reforms, security and inclusive development towards restoring the people’s dignity.

Mr Otti said this of Friday when members of the Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT), a sociocultural group, paid him a visit in the Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

The governor said, “We have been busy recovering our land and restoring the dignity of our people. Though everyone claims to be a politician, people now ask what those seeking power intend to offer.’’

Responding to security concerns raised by the delegation, Mr Otti reiterated the state government’s commitment to address insecurity, especially through the Abia Security Trust Fund.

He said that the funds would be used by the government to combat crime and ensure a safer Abia State for all.

He outlined achievements in reducing crime, creating jobs, and improving the business environment as steps to building a secure and prosperous society.

Mr Otti thanked the group for advancing the Igbo cause and urged them to share their experience for the benefit of the South-East region.

Earlier, the President of ILT, Prof. Elochukwu Amucheazi, said that the visit was informed by the need to discuss Igbo interests.

Mr Amucheazi commended the governor’s transformative leadership style and commitment to welfare and development of the people of Abia State.

He stressed the group’s vision of an inclusive Nigeria where the Igbo people could thrive and fully realise their potential.

Also, a member of the group, Prof. Obasi Igwe, described the Abia Airport City project and the achievements of the present administration as commendable.

Mr Igwe advocated a functional seaport linking the South-East Geopolitical zone to the Atlantic and appealed to the Federal Government to fund the dredging of the Imo River through Opobo.
