NAF graduates 55 cabin crew, air traffic control assistants, others

The CAS urged the graduates to seize the opportunity to make a positive impact in the service and contribute to the upliftment of air operations.

The Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC), Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna, has graduated 55 cabin crew, air traffic control assistants, and base operations personnel in Kaduna.

Out of the 55 airmen and women trained, 19 were for Initial Cabin Crew 1/2025, 18 for A2-A1 Air Traffic Control Assistants, and 18 for the A3-A2 Base Operations upgrade course 8/2025.

The graduation ceremony was held on Friday at the Air Traffic Services Training Centre, Kaduna.

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, who was the special guest of honour, congratulated the graduates for attaining that enviable feat.

Mr Abubakar was represented by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command, Ahmed Dari.

Mr Abubakar said, “It is imperative to note that the ATSTC became accredited as an approved training organisation (ATO) by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to conduct professional civil aviation courses, including air traffic control, flight dispatch, and cabin crew courses.

“In order to sustain the accreditation, therefore, HQ NAF graciously approved the conduct of the licence courses as expected.”

He said the centre had commenced the conduct of various courses, including the maiden air traffic control and surveillance radar course, the cabin crew refresher course, and the initial cabin crew course.

The CAS emphasised the importance of training in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), highlighting its role in transforming the force into an agile and resilient one that meets the airpower needs of national security.

He highlighted the crucial roles and responsibilities of cabin crew professionals and air traffic control assistants/base operators in ensuring safety and efficiency in air operations.

Mr Abubukar also emphasised the importance of his command philosophy, which focuses on deliberate training and mission-oriented force development.

He urged the graduates to seize the opportunity to make a positive impact in the service and contribute to the upliftment of air operations.

Mr Abubakar also charged them to be professional and show exemplary conduct, urging the graduates to be good ambassadors of the centre and NAF.

The Chief of Air Staff thanked President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in general and the NAF in particular.

Earlier, the commandant of ATSTC, Nosiru Folaji, said the ceremony marked the successful completion of training for a set of young airmen and airwomen who had been trained in cabin crew, air traffic control assistance/base operations specialities.

Mr Folaji said the centre was accredited as an approved training organisation (ATO) by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to conduct professional civil aviation courses, including air traffic control, flight dispatcher, and cabin crew courses.

He said the graduates would play a crucial role in ensuring safety and efficiency in NAF’s air operations and the integrity of the Nigerian airspace.

The commandant appealed for further development of the centre, including the construction of additional facilities, to enable it to run multiple courses simultaneously.
