The Nasarawa State House Committee on Education said it will collaborate with the state-owned Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia to train youths in different skills.

This, the assembly said, was to reduce youth restiveness and boost the socio-economic activities of people of the state.

Chairman of the committee and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Abel Bala, made this known during an oversight function to the institute on Tuesday in Lafia.

Mr Bala, representing Nasarawa Eggon West Constituency, said they were at the institute to assess its 2024 budget performance.

“We are here on oversight. This exercise is a routine one. We are here to know your 2024 budget performance for the first quarter. We will continue to support you to succeed considering the importance of the institute to our youths and the state at large.

“I want to commend the Executive Director of this Institute, Dr Daniel Asele, for the good works you are doing here. You are impacting positively on the lives of our people,” he said.

The lawmaker further commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in developing the institute.

“I want to commend the governor for being supportive to this institute and urge him to do more for the overall development of the state,” Mr Abel said.

The committee chairman assured of their support and collaboration with the government to take the institute to the next level of development.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the Institute, Dr. Daniel Asele, while presenting its 2024 budget performance, appreciated the governor for his passion in skills development in the state.

Mr Asele also lauded the committee and the House for giving their maximum support to the institute to succeed.

“This institute is scheduled with the responsibility of skills training to empower our youths and other people on different skills acquisition,” he said.

The executive director assured of his commitment to initiate good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of youths and people of the state.

The committee inspected auto-machine, fitting, leather workshops, electrical and electronics engineering workshops, among others.
