Nasir Gawuna in, Abba Yusuf out as Appeal Court nullifies Kano governor’s election
On Friday, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal nullified Governor Abba Yusuf’s election.
The appellate court upheld the decision of the Kano governorship election petitions tribunal to void the election of Mr Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party.
The appellate court thereby upheld the tribunal judgment, which declared Nasir Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the March 18 election.
Justice Oluyemi Osadebay-led tribunal, in nullifying Mr Yusuf’s election, declared that 165,663 of his votes were invalid.
The tribunal also held that the Independent National Electoral Commission neither signed nor stamped the ballot papers.
