The Zonal Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency overseeing Oyo and Osun commands has pulled out of service after attaining the retirement age of 60 years old.

The retired officer, DCG Joyce Titus-Awogbuyi, joined the agency on September 14, 1990, and served in various capacities and committees with several awards to her name.

At the retirement ceremony held in Ibadan on Thursday, NDLEA Commander in Oyo State, Olayinka Joe-Fadile, described the retiree as an administrator and a versatile officer in investigation and operations.

Mr Joe-Fadile said the two commands under her watch recorded tremendous impact with several arrests.

He said the agency would miss her for her experience, hard work and dedication to service.

Ms Titus-Awogbuyi was also described by the NDLEA Commander in Osun, Chidi Nnadi, as a mentor and accomplished leader with exceptional leadership skills.

Mr Nnadi said she contributed immensely to the progress of the zone, profession and Nigeria in general.

Other NDLEA officials also eulogised Ms Titus-Awogbuyi for her humility and gentle way of life as exhibited throughout her stay in the service.

The retired zonal commander’s husband appreciated God for seeing his wife through her stay in office.

He said that despite the many challenges, God gave her victory.

In her remarks, the retired zonal commander thanked God for granting her the privilege to witness her retirement despite the odds and successes she passed through in service.

She urged the officers still on duty to continually give their best, praying they too would reach the peak of their career without difficulty.

Meanwhile, the new zonal commander, Maureen Afolabi, appreciated the officers for the bond of unity and love existing in the zone.

Ms Afolabi, who said she had worked closely with the retired zonal commander, described her as a good planner and a goal-getter.

The presentation of gifts and handing over to the new zonal commander were highlights of the occasion.
