The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said it will intensify its campaign against drug abuse in Lagos State

The Media and Advocacy Officer of NDLEA, Lagos Command, Mallum Musa, said during an interview on Sunday in Lagos.

He said the agency would ensure the campaign reached remote communities of the state to prevent the indigenes being lured into illicit drug consumption.

Mr Musa said a series of programmes would be organised for women and youths to enlighten them on the danger of drug abuse.

He said, “The programme will expose Nigerians to types of illicit drugs, the abuse, consequences, prevention, treatment and care. As part of the efforts to ensure the campaign hits the objectives; the agency has upgraded its forensic laboratory to enhance investigations and treatments. The forensic laboratory will support the agency’s drug investigations which will enhance the campaign.’’.

He urged community leaders, religious organisations, institutions and governments to join the agency’s move to rid the state of illicit drugs.
