Niger Delta: PANDEF leader Edwin Clark dies at 97

Mr Clark’s death was confirmed in a statement by the family in the early hours of Tuesday.

The leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, Edwin Clark, has died.

Mr Clark was 97.

Mr Clark’s death was confirmed in a statement by the family in the early hours of Tuesday.

“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17th February 2025,” the statement said.

It added, “The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”

Until his death, Mr Clark was a prominent politician from Delta with a history of working with the administrations of military governor Samuel Ogbemudia and military head of state Yakubu Gowon between 1966 and 1975. 

Mr Clark was also an advisory committee member to the then-military governor of the Mid-Western Region province, David Ejoor, and became a federal commissioner for information in 1975.
