Niger police arrest 28-year-old woman with suspected cannabis

The Niger State police command announced it has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Rukayya Mohammed, for alleged possession of suspected cannabis in the Barracks Gate area of Kontagora.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, on Monday.
“Earlier on 10th April 2026 at about 3.30 p.m., police patrol team attached to ‘B’ Div Kontangora, while on stop and search around Kawo village, arrested Rukayya Mohammed, 28 years of Barracks gate area of Kontagora with a polythene bag, containing some quantity of suspected cannabis,” Mr Abiodun said.
He added that the suspect confessed to selling the substance to members of the public.
“The suspect was investigated, confessed that she sells to members of the public and was charged to court, while an effort to arrest her suppliers is ongoing, he added.
