Nigeria, Bulgaria collaborate for seamless AI ties

The Bulgarian parliament is seeking the partnership of Uniccon Group, a Nigerian firm, to collaborate on seamless ties and foster Artificial Intelligence (AI) between both countries.
The Uniccon Group of Companies chairman, Chuks Ekwueme, said this when the Bulgarian parliament paid a courtesy visit to its facility on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Ekwueme reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to bridging the technological gap through indigenous innovative solutions.
He said the visit and collaboration with the Bulgarian delegation was just the beginning of Uniccon’s efforts to elevate Africa’s technological prominence.
The Bulgarian ambassador to Nigeria, Yanko Yordanov, acknowledged that the initiatives have transformative potential.
Mr Yordanov said these projects can augment human capabilities and efficiency across various domains, ultimately enabling humans to focus on more creative and strategic aspects of their work.
He said the collaboration was to facilitate effective communication and urged the Uniccon Group to create a bespoke AI-based translator specifically designed for the Bulgarian language.
Mr Yordanov emphasised that by pioneering such advancements in Africa, Uniccon Group has put the continent on the global map of technological innovation.
“We acknowledge the utilisation of AI in optimising processes within Uniccon Group,” he said.
Mouta Tchieva, a member of the parliament, commended Uniccon’s commitment to inclusivity, highlighting the participation of women in the Uniccon Group and the ConnectHer program.
The visit covered Uniccon’s state-of-the-art facility, including its biotech lab, locally manufactured drone prototypes, and ‘Omeife’ the first African humanoid robot.
The visit was concluded with both parties expressing eagerness to explore future collaborative endeavours.
