Nigeria correctional service graduates 240 officers in Kaduna

The Nigeria Correctional Service has graduated 240 correctional service officers to enhance service delivery in correctional facilities.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, presided over the passing out parade of the cadets of the 30th Assistant Superintendent of Corrections, Basic Course International on Friday in Kaduna.
Represented by Secretary, Civil Defence, Correction, Fire and Immigration Service Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, the participants were exposed to correctional strategies.
According to him, five of the participants were from the Gambia, adding that the six-month basic course has made the desired impact on the participants.
He enjoined them to use the knowledge acquired to enhance quality service delivery in correctional facilities in the country.
He said, “Always remember that the job of rebuilding Nigeria is everybody’s task.’’
The minister also charged the management of the college to continue to discharge its mandate of training and re-training of correctional officers in line with international best practices.
Mr Tunji-Ojo said the ministry was working to promote synergy between the NCoS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Immigration Service to enhance quality service delivery.
He said, “We will employ more measures to enable the NCoS to carry out its statutory responsibilities without hindrance.”
Defence Adviser of Gambia to Nigeria, Commodore Hassan Saab, commended the government for the continued training of its personnel on security services.
He said the series of training would definitely impact on the performances and professionalism of their service delivery in the Gambia.
