Nigeria, Lesotho seek stronger cooperation on border management

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have visited Lesotho’s Maseru Bridge border post as part of a five-day study tour organised in collaboration with Revenue Services Lesotho.
RSL Maseru Bridge Manager, ’Mats’epang Tsietsi, said border operations at the post are coordinated under the Lesotho Border Management Service, which brings together several agencies, including the Lesotho Mounted Police Service, National Security Service, Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation, Port Health, Transport Department, Agriculture Department and the Road Fund.
Ms Tsietsi explained that the agencies work together to facilitate the movement of people and goods while ensuring effective border control and proper regulation of consignments entering and leaving the country.
She stressed that inter-agency cooperation was essential to maintaining efficient border operations and ensuring the safety of border users.
Speaking on behalf of the Nigerian delegation, Chukwuka Mowete James described the study tour as educational and informative, adding that participants would apply the knowledge gained to improve their work.
