Nigeria records highest daily COVID-19 cases amidst second wave

The number of daily coronavirus infection recorded on Monday in Nigeria surged to 1204 as a second wave of the deadly virus sweeps across the world.
Since Nigeria’s first case of coronavirus was recorded in late February 2020, Monday’s record stand as the highest, bringing total number of cases recorded in Nigeria to 91,351. Â
According to the National Center for Disease Control, Lagos recorded, 654, the highest number of cases among states on Monday, followed by the Federal Capital Territory where 200 cases were recorded.Â
Plateau State recorded 60, Kaduna 54, Kano 40, Rivers 30, Edo 28, Nararawa 25, Kebbi 19, Bauchi 18, Oyo 13, Akwa Ibom 12, Bayelsa 11, Ogun 11, Delta-9, Abia 8, Benue-5, Imo 3, Borno 2, while Sokoto and Osun recorded 1 respectively.
A total of 1,318 deaths have been recorded as a result of coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, while over 75,000 persons infected with the virus have been treated and discharged.
The second wave of coronavirus compelled the UK government to order another lockdown on Monday after over 50,000 cases of infection were recorded on the same day. Â
Globally over 86million cases of coronavirus have been recorded, while 1.8million have been killed by the virus
