Nigeria rich in resources but bankrupt, languishing in darkness due to stupid military dictators’ policies: Kemi Badenoch

The UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has said that though her home country, Nigeria, is rich in natural resources, it remains in darkness and bankrupt due to stupid policies by military dictators.
Mrs Badenoch, in an interview with The Spectator on Thursday, dismissed Britain’s energy policy under Ed Milliband, UK Secretary of State for Energy Security, comparing it to what she termed Nigeria’s stupid policies.
“Nigeria is an oil producing country but never had electricity. It’s very easy to have resources under the ground but very stupid policies means that you can’t use it,” Mrs Badenoch said.
The Tory leader further likened Mr Milinand-led energy policy to the policies by Nigerian military dictators who she said left the West African country bankrupt.
“I see quite alot of what Ed Miliband is doing being very much like what the Nigerian military dictatorships were doing in the 80s and 90s. The government is going to take country, we know what’s best, we are going to redistribute. Stupid ideas which eventually bankrupt the country,” Mrs Badenoch said.
In an article published in The Observer on March 15, Mr Miliband argued that UK “government’s number one priority is to tackle the affordability crisis.”
He added, “That is why we acted in the budget to bring down bills, funded by asking the wealthiest to pay their fair share, with these savings locked in until July. At every moment of this crisis, we will fight people’s corner, including clamping down on any potential for price-gouging for heating oil or at the petrol pump.”
The UK energy secretary said, “We will also act on the single most important long-term lesson: while we are so dependent on fossil fuels, households, business and public finances are exposed, and there can be no proper energy security for our country. That is why this government’s defining mission has been to drive for clean, homegrown power we can control.”
