Nigeria to experience three-day sunshine, haze

The Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of sunshine and haziness nationwide.
NiMet’s weather outlook released in Abuja predicted a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North and North-Central during the forecast period on Monday.
“With the exception of Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Taraba and Adamawa where moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility value between 2000m and 5000m and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1000m is anticipated,” stated NiMet.
It added that the inland cities of the South would be hazy with patches of clouds within the forecast period, and the coastal cities of the South would experience early morning mist and fog patches.
“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Delta,” it noted.
According to NiMet, thick dust haze with horizontal visibility values less than or equal to 1000m is anticipated over the Northern region during the forecast period on Tuesday.
The agency envisaged North-Central cities to be predominantly under moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility values between 2000m and 5000m throughout the forecast period.
“The inland cities of the South should be hazy with patches of clouds during the forecast period. The coastal cities of the South should experience early morning mist and fog patches which are expected to lift to give few patches of clouds with a hazy atmosphere during the rest of the morning hours,” added NiMet.
However, the weather agency mentioned that there “are prospects” of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Rivers during the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet forecast thick dust haze with localised visibility of less than or equal to 1000m over the North and North-Central regions throughout the forecast period on Wednesday.
NiMet anticipated inland and coastal cities of the South to be hazy with patches of few clouds throughout the forecast period.
