Nigerian man jailed 18 months for stealing N5,000 phone charger
The Area Court in Jos has sentenced James Emmanuel to 18 months’ imprisonment for criminal trespass and stealing a phone charger valued at N5,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge gave the convict an option of a N100,000 fine or 18 months’ imprisonment for criminal trespass and theft.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Daniel Damulak, told the court that the case was reported on January 29 by Israel Joshua, the complainant.
He said the complainant said the accused broke into his house through the ceiling, damaged the electrical cables of his apartment, and stole his phone charger valued at N5,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the accused confessed to having committed the offence.
