Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has urged Nigerians to pray for political leaders so that Nigeria can overcome the myriad of security challenges bedevilling it.

“Instead of complaining and condemning our leaders, we must continue to pray for them so that Nigeria can be free from banditry, insurgency, kidnapping, ritual killings and unemployment, among others,” Oba Ogunwusi said.

The Ooni stated this while receiving the Chief Imam of Ife, AbdulSemiu AbdulHammed, and other Muslims who were at the palace to pay Sallah homage to him on Monday in Ile-Ife.

While congratulating Muslims on completing the annual Ramadan fast, Oba Ogunwusi said that ceaseless prayers for Nigeria would bring progress and development to the country.

Earlier, the chief imam appealed to Muslims to allow the fear of Allah to reign in their lives so that Nigeria could be better transformed.

“If we apply the fear of Allah in our personal, political and social lives, the nation will be a better place to live in,” he stated.
