Nigeria’s Most Searched Word Definitions By State (FULL LIST): Kano, ‘nonchalant’; Lagos, Rivers, ‘spiritual’; Abia, ‘dream’; Anambra, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, ‘love’

In Kano, Lagos, Rivers, Plateau, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Enugu, and Kaduna, Nigerians are typing “fast and furious” searching for the definition of words that have caught the imagination of the world.
An analysis of Google search data for 2026 indicated that the most searched word definition in Kano between January and July was “nonchalant”, in Lagos, Rivers, and Plateau, “spiritual”, while residents in Abia searched for the definition of “dream” and Anambra, Delta, Edo, Enugu and Kaduna searched for “love”, according to research by Unscrambler based on recently published search data from Google Trends for “definition” between January 1 and July 28, 2026.
Ebonyi, Jigawa, and Sokoto were the states earnestly searching for “biology” during the period.
Within the months under review, the definition of love was searched 61,800 times, biology came second with 40,400 searches, and introvert ranked third with 36,900 searches.
According to Unscrambler, the research used Google Trends to discover the most searched word definitions and Ahrefs to find the number of searches.
A spokesperson for Word Unscrambler said, “These searches suggest that Nigerians are looking to better understand themselves, their relationships and the concepts that influence their personal lives.”
