NiMet issues latest weather alert for Thursday, Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted dust haze across the country from Wednesday to Friday.
NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja envisaged moderate dust haze on Wednesday, with visibility ranging from two to five kilometres in the North.
According to the agency, localised visibility of less than or equal to 1km is expected throughout the forecast period.
The North-Central and the inland areas of the South are expected to be in moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from two to five kilometres and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1km throughout the forecast period.
Early morning fog or mist is expected over the country’s coastal areas. In contrast, during the afternoon, moderate dust haze with visibility range from two to five kilometres is expected over the region.
NiMet envisaged moderate dust haze on Thursday in the northern region with a visibility range of two to five kilometres throughout the forecast period.
It was anticipated that the North-Central and inland of the South would experience moderate dust haze with visibility that ranges from two to five kilometres during the forecast period.
According to NiMet, hazy atmosphere is anticipated over the coastal parts of the country throughout the forecast period.
For Friday, dust haze is expected throughout the forecast period in the North. During the forecast period, the North-Central and inland parts of the South should experience moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from two to five kilometres.

The agency urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are in suspension. According to NiMet, people with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather conditions.
“Adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
